Experience Europe Conference – David Sassoli – 18 April 2025

The final EULink conference “Preventing disinformation, strengthening democracy” took place on 18 April 2025 at the David Sassoli European Space in Piazza Venezia (Rome). The conference was presented by Prof. Giorgio Grimaldi (Link University), coordinator of the EULink project. Dr. Federico Castiglioni (Link University) then took the floor and moderated the morning panel entitled “Training on Europe: experiences and perspectives”.
The first part of the meeting offered insights into current and past initiatives, aimed at explaining the functioning of the European institutions to citizens and young people through the interventions of Prof. Grimaldi, Dr. Alessia Chiriatti (Institute of International Affairs), Dr. Elisabeth Alber (EURAC Research Bolzano), Dr. Mario Leone (Altiero Spinelli Institute of Federalist Studies), Prof. Fabio Casini (Europe Direct and European Documentation Centre Forlì) and Dr. Bleona Shkullaku (Link University).
The afternoon panel was dedicated to the dialogue on European citizenship. In a context where Europe is called upon to face global, cultural and economic challenges, it is essential to promote a culture of citizenship that not only strengthens the European identity, but also fosters active participation and dialogue between different nationalities. European civic education therefore becomes an essential means of building a more united society, inclusive and ready to face the future with solidarity and cooperation. These food for thought emerged thanks to the interventions of Prof. Tommaso Visone (Link University), Dr. Giulio Saputo (General Secretary of the European Movement), Prof. Susanna Cafaro (University of Salento), Prof. Paul Blokker (University of Bologna), Dr. Michele Fiorillo (Citizens take over Europe/Natura Comune) and Dr. Camilla Pasqualini (GFE).
